The Midterm Stakes, Gavin Newsom & Woke Hollywood Peachy Keenan with AJ Rice Dangerous Laughter

Who are the people and institutions shaping America when nobody is supposed to laugh at them?

Author and satirist Peachy Keenan joins A.J. Rice on Dangerous Laughter to discuss Supervillains: Architects of America’s Decline, her satirical examination of the political, cultural and institutional forces she believes are driving American decline.

Keenan takes aim at Hollywood, censorship, media culture, establishment gatekeepers, feminism, family breakdown and California politics, while explaining why ridicule remains one of the most effective weapons against cultural power.

🔥 THEY GET INTO:

• Hollywood and ideological conformity
• Disney and its live-action remake obsession
• Jimmy Kimmel and political late-night comedy
• Censorship and media gatekeeping
• Keenan’s years inside Hollywood
• Her conversion from secular feminism to Catholicism
• Marriage and motherhood
• Cultural pressure against traditional family formation
• Political ridicule
• California’s 2026 elections
• Steve Hilton’s challenge to Xavier Becerra for governor
• Karen Bass versus Nithya Raman for Los Angeles mayor
• Gavin Newsom’s legacy as he leaves the governor’s office
• What happens when citizens start fighting cultural battles locally

Keenan’s argument is not that ordinary Americans are powerless.

Quite the opposite.

She believes strong families, parenthood, cultural confidence, local action and mockery of powerful institutions can matter more than endlessly screaming into the national political void.

THE QUESTION

Who really shapes the future: national institutions or millions of people making decisions inside their families, communities and local governments?

Watch the full conversation.
